Happy Birthday Hendra!!!

I really wanted to make this day super special for Hendra so I thought I would make him a Golf theme birthday cake that looks just like this one.

So here is my project....Baking a golf theme birthday cake for the very first time.

and here is the finish product.....ta...da....( drum roll please...) yep, it is a mini tumpeng ... a perfect replacement for the super complicated golf theme cake. who am I kidding....I'm suck at cake baking or cake decorating in that matter. Hendra is diabetic and my kids don't like to eat sweets or cakes of any kind. I don't want to go through so much trouble making the cake if at the end no one is going to eat it, and plus I was kinda pessimistic considering I have never baked or decorated any cake before. First attempt baking a birthday cake??? Let me think again.....
So change of plan.....I thought I could just make him a mini tumpeng. I'm good with cooking,especially Indonesian food.
So here is the finish product. I'm happy with the result. just a small little tumpeng with a little bit of everything. Hendra loves it, the kids love it, and I'm happy because my hard work has finally paid off .

Melati and Nene dozed off on the couch waiting for Hendra to come home from work. How did this happen anyway.....2 kids fell asleep at the same time on the same position....bizarre...

But a birthday without a cake is not complete.... So we went to Baskin Robins and I let the kids pick out an Ice cream cake and some candles for Hendra.

Hendra blew the candles with the help from Putri. Happy Birthday Hen....We love you!!!

later that night, our indonesian friends came over to wish Hendra a happy birthday and we had the real party then that everyone was there and the sleepy heads were up. We had more food and cakes. Big Thanks to Tangto and Merlin for bringing the Yummiest fruit cake. We stayed up pretty late that night and had a really nice chat with everyone.

I am so grateful for Hendra. He is such a fine man, a great husband, and a wonderful father. He is always willing to help others in need. He enjoyed being a secret Santa during the holiday season. He knew some people who were out of job and were truly in need, he dropped off some presents and food in front of their doors. He also enjoys taking the family out for fun. He plays all kind of instruments and he rocks at it, but lately he's been into ukulele. And of course Tiger Wood is his 'ol timer idol....Hendra loves the game of Golf like no other, especially now that Tiger Wood is back on the course.....the game is ON. But most of all, Hendra is the most wonderful person I'd love to spend my eternity with.
